The BC Young Birders Program believes that birding is for everyone, and works to promote the enjoyment, knowledge, and conservation of birds through education, science, and shared birding experiences.

The BC Young Birders Program recognizes that discrimination exists in our society in many forms. Discrimination may be related to race, ethnic origin, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, religion, family status or disability. The BC Young Birders Program recognizes that barriers make it difficult for some people, especially Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC) and LGTBQIA2S+ communities to enjoy and participate in birding and nature activities.

The BC Young Birders Program fervently believes that there is no place for discrimination in society or in the birding community. We want all birders to feel safe and comfortable participating in our events. The BC Young Birders Program holds a responsibility to provide a safe, inclusive, equitable and accessible organization. The benefits of diversifying the BC Young Birders Program include greater support for conservation through education, stewardship, a shared love of birding and a broader foundation for community science.

The BC Young Birders Program commits to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We welcome all people with an interest in birds to join and take part in our organization. We aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment where our differences are welcomed and celebrated. We strive to be an organization free of all forms of discrimination in which the dignity of all participants is respected. We commit to identify and remove organizational barriers that inhibit participation from members of under-represented communities
